Centre County Reads Dashiell Hammett's "The Maltese Falcon"
more infoIt was a day like no other, I hung my trench coat on a hook and went through my mail. I opened the manilla envelope with a sense of trepidation and unease. I should have known I had nothing to fear as I noted the return address. My public library was reminding me that it was time once again for Centre County Reads! As nervous as a bride on her wedding day, I opened the brochure with trembling hands. What would "they" choose? What genre would "they" approach?

Centre County Reads and the AAUW sponsored a showing of Persepolis at The State Theatre on Sunday, February 22, 2009. After the movie, 56 people made their way to the library to have a discussion with several Penn State students from Iran. Highlights included a brief history of Iran's history and government, Q&A about women's rights and education, plus some delicious Iranian pastries brought from Washington, DC just for us. Many thanks to the generous Iranian students who have been willing to share their lives with us.more infoCentre County Reads: Persepolis - the Movie
